The chart below illustrates the results of a three year study of Thinking Through Grammar with English Language Learners (ELL). The Academic Performance Index (API) was looked at for three groups: a control group of both ELL and Non-ELL students that used various programs other than Thinking Through Grammar, a group of Non-ELL students that used Thinking Through Grammar, and a group of ELL students that used Thinking Through Grammar.

Both groups that used Thinking Through Grammar out performed the control group, showing at least an additional 50% growth in their Language Arts scores. The ELL students who used Thinking Through Grammar showed the most growth, 90% more than the control group.
